Fire Acrylics on purpose? Never!! Well, on second thought, try this amazing technique combining non-fired gold metallic with fired glaze in a manner to create a hard to match result - JADE.
Supplies needed:
Properly Clean and fire Greenware to cone 04
Mayco Foundations: FN-009 Black
FN- 010 Tree Green
Duncan Ultra Metallics: UM-951 Solid Gold
26399 Pure Brilliance Brushing Clear glaze
Small brushes
Soft fan brush
On cone 04 bisque, apply 1 or 2 liberal coats of Duncan UM-951 Solid Gold to the area you want
the Jade color to form. Keep your brush strokes short and use a smaller brush than you nomally would. The brush-strokes help the color deepen in some areas and be lighter in others.
Fire to cone 04 / 06
after firing – do not dust, wipe residue from the piece (see photo top right of page to see this step on the oriental figure)
With a soft fan brush, apply 3 coats of Clear glaze to the “Jade” areas, drying thoroughly between each coat.
Using appropriate size brush, apply 3 coats of Foundations Black and Tree Green to the base. (Refer to photo top right)
Let dry.
Fire to cone 06.
NOT OVERGLAZE compatable. Meaning – you can't add gold or mother of Pearl on the items.
