Inspired Tiles : Article or Project

Capital Ceramics Distribution, LLC (Capital Ceramics) of Salt Lake City, Utah, has acquired the business of Inspired Tile, Inc. of Fresno, California.
Marketed under the name of Aurora

More Details

Inspired Tile was invented by Krisann Equivel in 2009 when she was hand painting tile murals and decided that machine incised tiles (deep cutting of the surface) would create a unique look and feel to ceramics. After applying for a patent, she grew the company by making custom tiles for local artists and continued to grow with some regional exposure. Capital Ceramics acquired the company with plans to take the product nationally, especially to contemporary ceramic art studios under their Aurora label. The unique incising of the tile allows non-artists the opportunity to glaze-by-numbers™ and leave the studio with a quality piece of finished tile artwork. Aurora will produce an alpha-numeric set of tiles for studios, along with licensed artwork tiles from various nationally known artists. They also have a full line of geometric décor tiles and plan to expand the line quickly with customer input. The Aurora brand also encompasses a line of high quality, blendable, low-fire glazes which will be marketed with the tiles.
Contemporary Ceramic Arts Studios members can contact Capital Ceramics for samples and additional information, and CCSA members can receive a special pricing on their first order of $100 or more. Contact Scott Perry or Julie Soper at sales@capitalceramics.com or 801-466-6471.
Capital Ceramics is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has been in business for 66 years. Capital got its start as a retailer of ceramic molds and glazing supplies and later became a wholesaler to the ceramics trade. Eventually they expanded into pottery supplies and clay materials. Capital Ceramics now manufactures over 250 products under the Aurora Pottery Products brand and is excited to add Inspired Tile to the family. Capital Ceramics is a division of Kasepack, LLC, a Utah based manufacturing and packaging company with a 12 year history of making quality products for retail and industrial markets.
